On June 4, HORIBA Advanced Techno Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “HORIBA Advanced Techno”) launched its new modular water supply quality monitoring system GX*2-100.
To ensure the safety of their water supplies, countries around the world establish water quality standards. The GX-100 is used in water quality management implemented in broad fields, from facilities such as water purification plants, water distribution plants, water distribution reservoirs, and pumping stations to the endpoints of water pipelines that transport potable water to homes. The device is capable of measuring seven essential parameters that need to be controlled under drinking water regulations: turbidity, color, pH, conductivity, free residual chlorine, water pressure, and water temperature.
This product features HORIBA Advanced Techno’s first ever modular*3 water quality meter design. This structure makes it easy to detach and reattach the individual modules of each measurement parameter without the use of any tools or jigs, thereby reducing on-site calibration time by approximately 50%.*1
The GX-100 makes it possible to take selected modules away from a work site to perform maintenance elsewhere, as well as to set measurement values, and check calibration dates and measurement data using a smartphone or tablet. By reducing maintenance time and effort, these features boost operational efficiency and minimize time spent at work sites.
HORIBA Advanced Techno’s custom developed cleaning mechanism*4 even makes it possible continuous measurements of turbidity and color while cleaning ,so that no data is missed.
Kentaro Inoue, the business owner of HORIBA Advanced Techno, explains, “With rapid population growth and urbanization in developing countries, the need for water quality management is growing globally. At the same time, developed countries like Japan are facing a shortage of skilled labor for maintaining and preserving their existing infrastructure. To address this problem, it is vital to reduce the enormous work involved in visiting large numbers of water quality meter sites spread out over a huge area, one by one, to conduct collecting analyzed data and maintenance. This was the reason why that we were inspired and motivated to develop the GX-100. Our goal was to minimize the time spent at work sites for water quality monitoring, and to increase the efficiency of sensor cleaning, calibration, and replacement.”
