Application Engineer

HORIBA Automotive is searching for an Applications Engineer to work out of our Ann Arbor, MI  office (in a hybrid capacity). This person will be responsible for developing engineering solutions for our customers using HORIBA’s test automation software products to meet our customers’ requirements and functional specifications. This position will provide sales support, customer technical assistance, customer training on site along with demonstrations of our test automation systems for potential customers.  
 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  1. Commission new Test Automation Systems and upgrade existing systems at customer facilities.
  2. Provide customer consultation for problem-solving within scope of supply and warranty requirements.
  3. Translates requirements of technical documents into the Test Automation System configuration in order to properly operate instrumentation during tests.
  4. Propose new products and features for Test Automation Systems enhancement; participates in Test Automation System product and feature development activities.
  5. Test newly developed Test Automation Systems functional features as part of overall product quality review.
  6. Assist Technical Specialist in training activities.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, software or chemical engineering, physics, chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities – primarily domestic with occasional international.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and software diagnostic techniques on a regular basis.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Computer programming experience (C#, VB.net, Python, Labview)
  • Basic operating knowledge of test instrumentation functionality in the automotive industry; understanding of computer-to-instrument communication functionality under automated control by the Test Automation Systems.
  • Knowledge of Test Automation Systems Application Software tools as applied to requirements of project and testing environment.
