To give customers and other interested parties an overview of the current state of the discussion and the technical developments, HORIBA Europe GmbH extended an invitation to attend an information event held at its European headquarters in Oberursel on April 12. With its testing and training center, the location provided the perfect setting for the first TechDays dedicated to the subject of RDE, which were in high demand and booked up within a few days of being advertised.
“The relevance of the subject of RDE for the sector is clearly reflected in the demand,” was the positive conclusion drawn by Markus Bode, Director Sales and Marketing Europe for HORIBA and organizer of the RDE TechDays. “It was important for us to give our customers and colleagues a sound overview of current developments. Together we were able to discuss the many different facets of the subject, talk about different approaches and define solutions designed to meet the demand.”
About 60 international experts and executives of OEMs and suppliers exchanged ideas with regards to the demands of the future regulations as well as the intended scope of performance of the emission measurements made in real road traffic. The main topics dealt with at the event were the test procedure known as WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) and the future standards for emission tests. Numerous presentations were made by HORIBA experts as well as guest speakers from Bosch Engineering GmbH and from TNO, the Dutch organization for applied scientific research, which highlighted a wide range of different aspects of the topic. The event was rounded off with practical approaches to solutions such as the Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) presented during a guided tour of the calibration laboratory in HORIBA’s own test center as well as an extremely lively final discussion.
