We have developed a brand-new model of our integrated automatic blood cell count/CRP measuring apparatus, "Microsemi LC-667CRP," which simultaneously measures blood cell counts, such as white blood cell (WBC) count, and inflammation index CRP (C-reactive protein) level. This product will be submitted to the exhibition held by the Japan Society for Clinical Laboratory Automation from October 9, 2008, and will be released on November 5, 2008. Measures 18 blood cell counting items and CRP concentration in only four minutes, 30 seconds faster than the conventional model, enabling in-hospital immediate testing for inflammation diagnosis, considerably aiding medical practitioners. By helping provide prompt medical care based on laboratory data, this product will enhance community-based medical services. With enhanced operability and functions accommodating information networking, in addition to the world's only technology for simultaneous measurement of blood cell counts and CRP level, this model joins the lineup of automatic blood cell counters as the advanced model of the "Microsemi LC-660."
Simultaneously measures 18 blood cell count items and CRP concentration
This product simultaneously measures blood cell counts (18 items including arithmetic items), including three-part differential WBC count and CRP concentration. Blood components comprise red blood cells (RBC), platelets and WBC, and serum containing such components as CRP. Since WBC ratio differs depending on viral infection or bacterial infection, determination of WBC composition ratio can indicate infection type. Simultaneous determination of blood cell counts and CRP level provides important data that can help identify the pathogen and assess morbidity.
Through our unique technology, this product enables blood cell counting and CRP level measurement using whole blood, without pretreatment, in only four minutes. It also benefits patients, who can be precisely diagnosed based on measurement data taken on site, without a need for re-visit. Furthermore, by enabling measurement using trace specimens, such as blood from earlobe or fingertip, this product greatly reduces the burden on the patient, particularly in the case of pediatric and elderly patients.
Full-model change to convenient, eye-friendly design
First, we have completely improved CRP reagent storage design so as to enable continuous refrigerated storage within the apparatus, thereby eliminating the conventional troublesome step of removing CRP reagents from the apparatus for refrigerated storage after a day's work.
In addition, assuming the frequency of specimen testing at clinics, we have combined 50-testing portions of three different CRP reagents into an integrated bottle, so that no reagents are wasted through expiration. Moreover, the apparatus has a touch panel operation screen, enabling operation while viewing the screen. Introduction of data management system and LAN cable terminal provides communication functions corresponding to today's medical information networking, enabling us to offer prompt support to users in case of problems or inquiries.
Major features
- Blood cell counts and CRP concentration simultaneously measurable using one blood specimen, in only 4 minutes, fastest in the industry
Our technology, unique in the world, enables easy testing using whole blood without need for pretreatment, such as by centrifugation. Moreover, this apparatus provides the industry's fastest measurement, requiring only four minutes from specimen setting to result display. Doctors can immediately refer to laboratory data during consultation, while patients can be informed of diagnosis results on site, during their visit.
- CRP reagents in an integrated bottle enable easy reagent change and continuous refrigerated storage within the apparatus
This product eliminates the conventional troublesome steps of putting reagents into a refrigerator after use and setting them in the apparatus on each day of measurement, allowing laboratory staff to concentrate on testing, rather than time-consuming procedures.
