HORIBA today announced the official completion and commissioning of its new facility in Magdeburg-Barleben in Saxony-Anhalt and the extension of its Leichlingen branch in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is thus meeting the growing demand for new technologies in the fields of electromobility, new energy and process and environmental engineering and will create up to 270 new jobs
Dr. Robert Plank, President of HORIBA Europe GmbH explains: “Our investment in both site expansions is a milestone for our further growth. It is the answer to the increasing demand of vehicle manufacturers to reduce emissions, a rapidly growing importance of clean energy supply for energy-intensive industries such as chemistry or steel manufacturing and the increase in environmental monitoring technology to measure pollutants. With our expertise in electrolyzer and fuel cell technology in Magdeburg-Barleben and new extended capacity for our process technology in Leichlingen, we will be well positioned in respect to these current and future market demands.”
eHUB in Magdeburg-Barleben
The new company building, named “eHUB,” in the Technologiepark Ostfalen in Magdeburg-Barleben is the new headquarters of HORIBA FuelCon GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of HORIBA Europe GmbH and the global center of excellence for fuel cells, batteries and electrolyzers within the HORIBA Group. In addition to 7,000 square meters of production space, the eHUB has around 3,000 square meters of office area, offers a capacity for up to 325 employees and was built in only 18 months with an investment of EUR 30 million.
“With five times the production space and the switch to lean production, our Evaluator Series solutions can be manufactured and fully commissioned even faster. The infrastructure also enables further development of new and significantly more powerful product solutions that meet tomorrow's requirements today,” explains Managing Director of HORIBA FuelCon Dr. Ingo Benecke.
Expansion of facility in Leichlingen
With its new building in Leichlingen HORIBA Europe GmbH more than doubles its production and office space.
“The expansion enables us not only to increase the capacity and efficiency for our P&E production but also to offer more space for our P&E and Automotive Service Centers. Furthermore, we will focus on process measurement technology and build those products on site as well as offer related services,” says Dr. Torsten Laube, Segment Leader Process & Environmental.
HORIBA invested around EUR 6 million in the new facility and will be able to increase the Leichlingen staff by up to 30%.
The official opening ceremonies will be held in autumn 2022.
